Leo Barraclough International Features EditorThe Playmaker Munich is launching sales in Cannes on the claustrophobic, real-time black comedy “Holy Shit!,” and have debuted the film’s international trailer. “Holy Shit!” will have its market premiere in Cannes on May 19.Scriptwriter and director Lukas Rinker has “created an ultimate worst-case scenario that feels relatable yet unimaginable at the same time,” The Playmaker Munich said.“Holy Shit!” won the Audience Award at its world premiere at the Hard:Line Film Festival this year, and was also shown at the Night Visions Film Festival and Fantaspoa, where it received an Honorable Mention for the “Best Blood (and Shit) Bath.”In the film, architect Frank (Thomas Niehaus) regains consciousness in a locked portable toilet on a construction site where a detonation is being prepared.

British actors George MacKay (1917) and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Candyman) are set to star in revenge thriller Femme, from directors Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping.

An “English Patient” reunion is finally on the horizon, as co-stars Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes are attached for a new “gritty take” on the beloved ancient Greece tale Homer‘s “The Odyssey,” according to Variety. The original epic focuses on a war-wary husband that sets sail to return home to his wife and son after the Trojan War.

The banner is handling international sales on the movie. Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk previously directed the short film “Weighlifter,” a European Film Award contender and winner of the Best Short Film Award in Angers.“Pamfir” takes place in Western Ukraine, on the eve of a traditional carnival.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau ChiefHenry Gilroy (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “The Amazing Spiderman” “How to Train Your Dragon”) has joined animated movie project “Young Captain Nemo” as its producer, showrunner, and screenwriter, as producers Rainshine Entertainment and Malaysia’s Animasia broaden out the venture into a movie series franchise.The project, based on the children’s literature franchise “Young Captain Nemo,” was announced last year with Jeffrey Reddick, screenwriter and creator of the “Final Destination” movie franchise, adapting the books for the screen.The film will be self-produced by Rainshine, and Animasia, which will both invest from their balance sheets and raise money from a wide variety of investors, instead of going to a large film fund or a streaming platform for finance. The budget was not disclosed.  Casting for the voice actors has begun and major names could be settled within three months, ahead of production of the first film which is expected to begin in the fall of this year.
