A seasoned flyer has explained why he always picks the "worst" airplane seat before taking off.
No matter where you choose to park up on your journey, plane travel always seems to be uncomfortable, unless you're lucky enough to fly business class. For the majority, it can feel like you're a sardine smushed into either an aisle, middle, or window seat.
But one man who is a regular air traveller believes he has found a seat that makes flights more bearable and it's also one people tend to avoid. If you've got a long-haul flight coming up and can't bare the thought of sitting in the same place for hours without feeling relief, you may want to hear this advice.
While most passengers rush to pick the best plane seat, John Burfitt says he always chooses the window seat at the furthest back by the toilets when he flies, the Mirror reports.
Writing for escape.com.au, he previously claimed that it can actually be the most relaxing place to sit, despite its bad reputation. After once spending an entire flight being kicked in the back by a passenger, John vowed never repeat the experience.
"In that instant, I decided the back row would be the only place I would sit on a long flight from now on," he wrote. "Sure enough, on my next flight, I booked into the back row of the cabin and, even better, my seat was the one right next to the window.
"As I nestled into that corner, I discovered what true airline love is about. I had just found the best seat on the plane."
Other perks include never getting hit by the drinks trolley, not being bumped by passengers stretching their legs down the aisle, and being able to lean into the corner wall to doze off. Of course you could also try and bag the holy grail of travel; the free First Class upgrade.
