Alex Ritman Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Irish rights to creature action thriller “Werewolves” from the Solution Entertainment Group. The feature was produced by Myles Nestel (“Blacklight”) and Craig Chapman (“Honest Thief”), with additional producers including Steven C.
Miller (“Escape Plan 2,” “In the Line of Duty”), Jim Cardwell (“Blacklight”) and James Michael Cummings (“Blacklight”). “Werewolves” was directed by Miller from a script written by Matthew Kennedy (“Inheritance”). The film stars Frank Grillo (“The Grey”), Katrina Law (“Arrow”), Ilfenesh Hadera (“Billions”) and Lou Diamond Phillips (“Courage Under Fire”). “Werewolves”focuses on the aftermath of a Supermoon event, which triggered a latent gene in every human on the planet, turning everyone who entered the moonlight into a werewolf for that one night.
Chaos ensued and close to a billion people died. Now the Supermoon is back. The deal was negotiated between Signature’s acquisitions manager Begüm Kayacan Parodi and the Solution Entertainment Group’s co-founder Lisa Wilson.
“The idea of a one-man-army against millions of werewolves made Steven C. Miller’s action thriller a very attractive genre proposition for us at Signature,” said Parodi. “It’s something we’re sure U.K.
and Irish audiences will happily sink their teeth into ‘Werewolves’ in 2025.” Wilson added: “We are delighted to have closed another deal for U.K. rights with Signature. ‘Werewolves’ fits perfectly into their wheelhouse, and we look forward to a successful release.”
