Fourth time the charm: Iowa Rep.-elect Mariannette Miller-Meeks to be sworn in Sunday

Showtime has tapped Michelle Pfeiffer to star as Betty Ford in its upcoming anthology series, "The First Lady." Pfeiffer joins the previously announced Viola Davis (playing Michelle Obama) for the show, which focuses on the pair, along with Eleanor Roosevelt, and "the roles they played in shaping impactful and sometimes world-changing decisions during their time in the White House," according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The part of Roosevelt has not yet been announced.

Political leaders from both sides of the aisle have come forward with expressions of condolences following the death of Rep.-elect Luke Letlow, R.-La., at the age of 41 on Tuesday. Letlow died following complications from COVID-19 after being admitted to a hospital on Dec. 19, a day after he announced his diagnosis.
