Four high-rise tower blocks in north Manchester are to be transformed and kitted out with the latest energy-efficient technology as part of a £15 million makeover project.

Old gas heating systems will be replaced and new windows, insulation and low energy lighting installed.

Council chiefs say the investment will cut their carbon emissions but also slash running costs for residents.
