Former Tory MP Mark Logan has announced he is backing Labour at the general election in July and said he is planning to join the party.
The MP, who had previously represented Bolton North East until Parliament dissolved on Thursday (May 30) told the BBC he believes the party could 'bring back optimism into British life'.
Mr Logan previously won his seat with a majority of 378 back in 2019 but has now slammed the Tory party as being 'unrecognisable' from when he first joined politics.

In an interview with BBC News, Mr Logan, who announced he was standing down at this election, told the broadcaster that Labour now offer 'centrist politics'.
"The time has come to bring back optimism into British public life," he told the broadcaster. "For my constituents and for the country, it's right that we get some stability back into the UK, we get optimism, we get new and fresh ideas.
“I believe, as a politician, it’s incumbent upon me to be able to say, to look people in the eyes in Bolton and say that I believe that a Labour government is going to serve you better, your interests better, it’s going to be better for your pockets, it’s better for the economy, it’s going to be better for the UK.”
When asked if he would consider running for Labour in the future, he responded: "I wouldn't rule out coming back into public life."
