Two food van owners have sparked a 'baguette war' over their huge fried breakfast challenges. Megan Israel accused another business owner, Richard Davies, of stealing the idea for her culinary creation.
The owner of Meg's Grill & Chill took to social media to suggest that their competitor, Richie's Snack Bar, pinched her concept of serving up a meal for free if devoured in one sitting. The beef began between the two Welsh businesses when Megan posted an image online of one of Richard's of Richie's Snack Bar's gigantic creations.
The image showed a whopping £20 fried breakfast roll filled to the brim with food. Wales Online reports the entire baguette is free if the customer manages to devour it onsite in 45 minutes.
Megan's post on social media was accompanied with the words, "Look familiar?", along with a laughing emoji. However, Richard claims that when he tried to respond to the accusations he found himself blocked from leaving a comment on her Facebook page.
The businessman, who is based in Aberdare, took to his own social media platforms to share his response. Richard said: "Had a stinker off Meg last night. She reckons I've copied her super duper famous roll and blocked me before I could even reply.
"So enjoy the fame - I will continue using my lovely fresh rolls from my local bakery and not a s****y French stick from the supermarket. FYI - I started doing these challenges in 2017, but who cares who made them first, LOL."
The post received hundreds of likes as his customers sided with the chef over his creations. One of Richard's followers joked: "She's also just hit Elon Musk with a copyright claim. She reckons he stole her blueprints for the Tesla."
However, Richard was quick to add that there was no serious 'beef'
