When Shygirl broke out in 2018 with her Cruel Practice EP, it was immediately apparent that the world needed her to collaborate with FKA twigs, another English artist weaving entrancing songs from threads of electronic music, albeit in quite different ways. That connection came this year in Caprisongs, a mixtape from FKA twigs that saw her work with loads of artists in a string of different genres like never before.
"papi bones," her song with Shygirl, is a dancehall track, and today the music video is out. The video is as incredibly stylish as you'd expect from twigs.
Decked out in Burberry outfits, twigs and Shygirl take an abbreviated version of their song into a small London living room. It would be a tight squeeze even without the motorcycle that twigs dances on, but the energy is reminiscent of a tightly packed party (thanks in no small part to the black-and-white cutaways of sweaty wining).
