EXCLUSIVE: Peter Morgan‘s next project for Netflix is likely to be a film adaptation of his stage play Patriots rather than more of The Crown, according to sources close to the writer.

That there’s an audience for a stage version was evidenced by its 2022 Tokyo run selling out in four minutes. Now in London and performed in Japanese with English surtitles, sales are brisk in the 2,263-seat London Coliseum with the limited run now extended by five weeks.

Tyler Perry Studios and DeVon Franklin (Flamin’ Hot) have formed a partnership with Netflix to produce faith-based films under a multi-year and multi-picture first-look deal. This deal marks the latest extension of Perry and Netflix’s creative partnership which sees Perry write, direct, and produce films and series, however, these films will be produced by Franklin and Perry in conjunction with Tyler Perry Studios.

A new film and TV studio funded via a portion of a £24M ($30M) government investment has become the latest to launch in the UK.
