As reported by Vulture, the episodes were pulled at the request of the show's executive producers, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.  In a letter sent to the platforms that streamed 30 Rock, Fey wrote, "As we strive to do the work and do better in regards to race in America, we believe that these episodes featuring actors in race-changing makeup are best taken out of circulation.

According to , the episodes in question will no longer be available to stream on Hulu and Amazon Prime, will no longer air on television, and will no longer be available to purchase on iTunes and Google Play.

Vulture reports that some of them are already gone. According to , the episodes being removed are “Believe in the Stars” (season 3, episode 2), “Christmas Attack Zone” (season 5, episode 10), which shows Jane Krakowski's Jenna Maroney in blackface, along with “Live From Studio 6H” (season 6, episode 19), and the East Coast version of “The Live Show” (season 5, episode 4).
