Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, is set to helm a Star Wars TV series for Disney+.Following rumours of his involvement in the franchise back in February, a report on Vanity Fair has confirmed Watts is working on a Star Wars show under the working title Grammar Rodeo – a reference to an episode of The Simpsons.According to the report, the show takes places “during the post-Return Of The Jedi reconstruction that follows the fall of the Empire” – the same time period as The Mandalorian. While the plot is being kept under wraps, the show is described as a “galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ‘80s” with a casting notice calling for four children around 11 to 12 years old.Watts is an executive producer on the show alongside his Spider-Man: Homecoming writing partner, Chris Ford. A release date has yet to be announced. The series joins an expansive slate of Star Wars TV shows, including Obi-Wan Kenobi later this month, Andor this summer, and The Mandalorian season three due “late 2022 or early 2023”.Other shows in the works include Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson and The Acolyte, set roughly 100 years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

‘Star Wars’ Series Inspired by ’80s Amblin Films in the Works From ‘Spider-Man’ Director Jon Watts

Vanity Fair, the future of “Star Wars” will be deeply rooted in new television series on Disney+, beginning with the premiere of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” on May 27, followed by the Diego Luna-led “Andor” series, “The Mandalorian” Season 3 and Rosario Dawson’s solo “Ahsoka” series. But there’s an additional series in the works, shrouded in mystery, led by Watts. There’s no official title or synopsis just yet, but the working title is reportedly “Grammar Rodeo,” which is a reference to an episode of “The Simpsons.” (In the episode, Bart and some of his classmates steal a car and run away for a week, but that’s the only hint toward a plot so far).

Sam Raimi would “love” a fourth ‘Spider-Man’ film with Tobey Maguire

Spider-Man trilogy has spoken about the possibility of a fourth film starring Tobey Maguire as the titular webslinger.Following Maguire’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, there’s been a renewed interest from fans in continuing the story of Maguire’s version of Spider-Man.Speaking about his interest in revisiting the character, Sam Raimi (who directed 2002’s Spider-Man and the following two sequels) told Rolling Stone he’d be up for it “if there was a great story there.”“My love for the characters hasn’t diminished one iota,” he continued. “It would be the same things that would stop me now that stopped me then: ‘Does Tobey want to do it? Is there an emotional arc for him? Is there a great conflict for this character? And is there a worthy villain that fits into the theme of the piece?’ There’s a lot of questions that would have to be answered.

‘Fantastic Four’ brought to life,” Watts added. While the addition of the “Fantastic Four” to the MCU was an exciting announcement in the wake of Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, and a foregone conclusion that they would eventually make their appearance, we’ve heard next to nothing about the project dating back to Disney’s Investor Day in December 2020 when Watts was revealed as director.

‘Spider-Man’ Director Jon Watts Exits Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’

EXCLUSIVE: Jon Watts has withdrawn as the director of Fantastic Four, the reinvention of the venerable Marvel Comics series at Marvel Studios and Disney. Watts just directed Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios film that grossed $1.89 billion to become the sixth highest grossing film of all-time. Nothing sinister here; Watts just needs a break from the superhero realm after completing the Spidey trilogy with Tom Holland and Zendaya. He had expected to make Fantastic Four his next film, the third feature iteration of that franchise and first since Disney acquired Fox, which controlled the franchise. Watts has spent the better part of the last decade directing and promoting the Spider-Man films, after being hired off Cop Car, a small budget indie thriller that premiered at 2015 Sundance. He needs a breather.
