Ariana DeBose almost didn’t play Anita in Steven Spielberg‘s new adaptation of West Side Story, according to casting director Cindy Tolan.

With that, she was on board to cast the film which stars Ariana DeBose, Rachel Zegler, Mike Faist and Ansel Elgort.
