Ever since she was famously branded ‘Princess Tippy toes” by Eamonn Holmes, then her co-star on morning television, Anthea Turner has found it hard to shed her image of being well, a bit precious, and squeaky clean. Now she’s taking part in a new reality show that is about to show her in a new light. She joins a gang of celebrities acting out classic scenes from the hit eighties film Dirty Dancing, starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze as unlikely lovers.
Anthea says she wanted to do the Real Dirty Dancing on E4 because she’s a “big fan of the show.” She took acting masterclasses to impress the show’s hosts, The Pussycat Dolls’ singer Ashley Roberts and comedian Keith Lemon. And just like ‘Baby’ (Jennifer Grey) in the film, Anthea shows viewers that she has a raunchier side to her.
In the show she does her version of the scene where Baby throws water at a waiter who has been treating her sister badly. In the first take, Anthea fluffs her lines. But in the second take, she nails it, giving a fierce line: “You keep away from me, you keep away from my sister or I’ll have you fired." Host Keith Lemon is super impressed by her acting skills.
