Ex On The Beach star Jemma Lucy opened up on a terrifying experience last year when she suffered from a devastating ectopic pregnancy that could have killed her.
The reality star revealed that she could have died when she was hospitalised in December with mystery pains. She has now spoken out about the reason she was in hospital and sadly confirmed it was due to an ectopic pregnancy. According to the NHS: "An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes." Speaking about the terrifying ordeal, Jemma said doctors warned her that she could die if her pregnancy ruptured.
She told The Sun: "Doctors told me that if the pregnancy ruptured, I could die so they wanted to take me in for emergency surgery. I was terrified of going for the operation and never waking up. I didn't know what to do, and every minute was like a ticking timebomb".
Jemma went on to say that she was not only concerned about the surgery itself, but also because she had previously suffered suicidal thoughts as a side effect to anaesthesia. Jemma was thankfully able to be treated with an injection of methotrexate, which stops the baby from growing, and was later released from the hospital. While in hospital, Jemma had banned her then boyfriend Nicholas Sinclair from visiting her.
She told her followers: "It's my choice, I prefer to do these things alone so I can zone out and just deal with it. Nick wanted to come but I said no. Is that weird? Like I just prefer to be alone but feel like no one gets that." Jemma left the hospital on December 23 and her relationship with Nicholas reportedly ended shortly after.
