The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement shared on the official Eurovision Twitter page, it was confirmed that the May event, set to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, had been called off, due to “the uncertainty created by the spread of Covid-19 throughout Europe”.
While organisers said they “explored many alternative options”, they conceded “it is impossible to continue with the live event as planned”.
