LOS ANGELES — A weekend benefit broadcast featuring recording stars performing live music online from home raised nearly $8 million for two charities serving first responders and Americans facing economic hardship amid the coronavirus crisis, sponsors said on Monday.

Elton John and his famous friends know how to put on a great show for an even greater cause. On Sunday night, the Grammy winner hosted the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert for America on Fox, which helped to support two of the many charitable organizations helping victims and first responders during the Coronavirus pandemic: Feeding America and First Responders Children's Foundation.

Fox’s “iHeart Living Room Concert for America,” which saw Elton John lead a whole chorus of famous singers in calling for social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic, tied “American Idol” for first place in the Sunday night TV ratings race.

On Sunday night (March 29), Elton John hosted the iHeart Living Room Concert for America to help combat the current coronavirus pandemic.

YouTube is now streaming the benefit special “Fox Presents the iHeart Living Room Concert for America” through Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on iHeartRadio’s YouTube Channel. The one-hour event, which debuted on Fox Sunday night, March 29, was created to help fight the spread of the coronavirus and to “celebrate the resilience and strength of the nation during this pandemic.”

Elton John and some of the biggest names in music are doing their part of to provide a ray of sunshine amid the darkness and celebrate the little joys of life.

Mariah Carey was the second-to-last performer to close the Fox Presents the iHeart Living Room Concert for America on Sunday night (March 29) with one of her many classics, "Always Be My Baby."
