A woman in her 80s was conned out of £12,000 in a “despicable” scam in Wigan.
The elderly woman, from Standish, received a call from a man posing as a police officer on March 22.
He told her there had been suspicious activity on her husband’s bank account.
He added that as part of an investigation into her bank, she would need to withdraw £5,000 to be collected from her house on Bentham Road.
