Former Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has put forward a proposal that would see the UEFA Champions League expanded to 36 clubs and have ten group stage matches.

Van der Sar, who spent six years at Old Trafford between 2005 and 2011, is reportedly one of the main men behind the plan that is set to be implemented from the 2024/25 season onwards.
