Edinburgh Fringe Festival organisers have announced today that the event will not go ahead this summer.
Organisers say that the decision was not taken lightly but the public's health comes first.
The festival has been running for 70 years and features performers from around the world.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's largest arts festival, with more than 2,500 shows at over 250 venues.

This year's Marymass Festival is set to be cancelled, the Irvine Herald understands.
The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity on Friday said its 2020 edition was canceled after previously postponing it until October due to the coronavirus pandemic. The next edition of the festival will run June 21-25, 2021.

The lists of cancellations in the fashion world continues to grow due to the global novel coronavirus pandemic, with multiple fashion weeks across Europe and the United States cancelled and one postponed. In Paris, the show will not go on for men's fashion week, slated for June, and the haute couture shows (which would have included the highly anticipated return of Balenciaga), scheduled for July, with both being cancelled by the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.
