East Kilbride projects to share in £1million government cash boost

East Kilbride, Rutherglen, Cambuslang and Lanark are among those in the region benefiting from fund, which has made in excess of 200 grants nationally to help communities recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Funded by the Scottish Government, they aim to support small-scale improvements to enhance places while helping motivate people to shop, eat and relax in their community while also promoting places and ensuring public safety.

East Kilbride man smashed up property at his partner’s home in a drunken rage. Police arrived in Melbourne Avenue to find Paul Thom bleeding from a head wound sustained as he forced entry to the flat.Thom, 32, of Main Street, The Village, this week admitted two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour.Hamilton Sheriff Court heard the disturbance happened in the early hours of December 6.Toni Hicks, prosecuting, said Thom and friends had been drinking, but an argument broke out.
