The DVLA has announced which number plates will be banned when it releases its new set of registrations later this year.
Every year, there are two groups of licence plates that are created by the DVLA, one that comes out in March and the other in September.
The '23' set was released earlier in the year, with the '73' group set to come into force in the autumn. And with millions of plates coming out each time, there are some unfortunate letter and number combinations that the DVLA has banned people from getting on their cars.
Before each release, the DVLA bans a group of number plates that they have identified as being too offensive for the road.
Jon Kirkbright, sales director at Platehunter, is an expert in buying and selling private number plates.
Ahead of the upcoming ‘73’ release, the car expert submitted a Freedom Of Information request to the DVLA to find out which plates will be banned.
The exclusive list includes pretty offensive combinations such as: BO73 LOX and SH73 TER.
Commenting on the banned plates, Jon said: “With so many plates being released at once, it is no surprise that some of them are not fit for the road.
“However, some of them are borderline but I understand why the DVLA chose to be extra cautious. They are simply trying to protect what is a very significant source of revenue for them.”
For anyone looking for a specific registration plate, they can check out the PlaceHunter site.
Jon added: “If customers cannot find what they are looking for, they can inform us of their specifications and we can notify them if it becomes available.
“We are also able to get any number plate to auction from the DVLA, as long as it is legal and has never been issued before."

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Sorry, Hayley Williams and Fall Out Boy: Marjorie has stolen the show again. Not that Taylor Swift’s beloved grandmother actually puts in a vocal appearance from the great beyond, as she did on the “Evermore” album three years ago. But Marjorie Finlay still manages to be a dominative force in the Vault Tracks for the newly released “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” by having her photos appear throughout the lyric video for the closing track, “Timeless,” and having her relationship with Taylor’s granddad be a focus of the inspirational ballad. Twenty-first-century pop-punk or emo can hardly compete with that emotional a capper. But for those less sentimentally inclined, Paramore’s singer and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump will be way up there in what Swift fans immediately take away from the six previously unheard compositions that have been appended to the previous 16-track running order of 2010’s “Speak Now.” The duet with Williams, “Castles Crumbling,” is particularly pungent, as a lament that just about could have been an outtake from the more recent “Folklore” or “Evermore” instead of an album that came out a full decade before those. As for the FOB-aided track, it’s the farthest thing from a Swift classic. But — having been written, like the rest of these tracks, when the artist was 18 or 19 — the number does hark back to an era when girls (and Fall Out Boys) could just wanna have fun.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director “Sex and the City” fans will want to cherish every second of Kim Cattrall’s cameo as Samantha Jones in the “And Just Like That” Season 2 finale, as it sounds like it will be the last time Cattrall reprises her fan-favorite character. “This is as far as I’m going to go,” Cattrall told “Today” after being asked about Samantha’s future beyond the cameo. “[But] I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She’s like a lot of other characters that I’ve done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much, and I’m so appreciative of her.” Variety exclusively reported in May that Cattrall would appear in the second season of Max’s “Sex and the City” sequel series “And Just Like That.” The scene in question finds Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie and Cattrall’s Samantha having a brief conversation over the phone. Cattrall shot her scene without any involvement from the show’s current cast.
