Josh Brolin Says ‘I Won’t Ever Stop S—ting’ on ‘Jonah Hex’ Because ‘It Was a S—ty F—ing Movie!’ But He’s No Longer Taking It Out on Its Director

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Josh Brolin told GQ magazine in a new interview that “I won’t ever stop shitting on ‘Jonah Hex‘ because it was a shitty fucking movie!” The 2010 comic book film, starring Brolin as the eponymous bounty hunter, is one of the genre’s most infamous flops, earning universal pans from critics and only grossing $11 million at the worldwide box office. According to GQ, Brolin and his “Jonah Hex” director Jimmy Hayward “recently reconnected” and the filmmaker even “apologized for his part in the mess.” Brolin told Variety last year that part of the failure of “Jonah Hex” is that he rushed to hire a director and Hayward was just too inexperienced to execute Brolin’s vision for the comic book movie.

‘Poor Things’: Yorgos Lanthimos and Cinematographer Robbie Ryan on the Film’s Most Intense Sequence

Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Yorgos Lanthimos‘ “Poor Things,” spans five different major locations — London, Paris, a ship, Alexandria and Lisbon — which meant production designers James Price and Shona Heath had a considerable undertaking ahead of them when they signed on. Creating Lisbon proved to be one of the biggest jobs for cinematographer Robbie Ryan and even Lanthimos. As Emma Stone’s Bella Baxter departs her black-and-white world of Victorian-era London and Godwin’s (Willem Dafoe’s) home, the movie transitions into a pastel-colored world — there’s a soundstage with a water tank for the scenic sea view, and a giant picturesque backdrop.

How do you accomplish it? And how do we make sure we utilize Bob?” Early meetings took place during the pandemic with Marley’s sons Ziggy and Stephen as well as director Reinaldo Marcus Green over Zoom. The answer would be in authentically preserving Bob Marley’s live recordings and enhancing them – with actor Kingsley Ben-Adir’s vocals layered in.

How the ‘Maestro’ Sound Team Used 22 Microphones to Capture the Party Scene

Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Oscar-nominated sound mixer Steve Morrow has recorded quite a few party scenes in his career, in movies such as “Don’t Worry Darling,” “The Prom” and “Babylon.” When it came to Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro,” Morrow had to figure out how to capture the sound in a prominent party scene that takes place at the Bernstein family apartment in the Dakota Building in New York. It’s a key moment that transitions the film from black and white to 1970s color, anchored by Carey Mulligan’s Felicia smoking a cigarette, staring out the window at Central Park while a bustling party surrounds her. Morrow knew how the film would transition visually, but his team was tasked with capturing sound from both Felicia’s and Lenny’s (Cooper) circles.

More importantly, he’s done justice to the scope and scale and sheer weirdness of a stoner-lit touchstone’s back half without, pun intended, sanding away its edges.”The Guardian‘s Peter Bradshaw said Dune: Part Two is “superb at showing us an entire created world, a distinct and now unmistakable universe, which will probably be much imitated: a triumph for cinematographer Greig Fraser and production designer Patrice Vermette.
