A drunken thug with a "fascination with guns" shot two people - one of whom was holding a baby, during a brawl.
Roy Jones, aged 57, attempted to show his nephew and his partner his small imitation BB pistol when they arrived at his home.
The pair wanted to disarm Jones, but throughout the scuffle at the Caernarfon home, the weapon was discharged twice - hitting his nephew's forehead and his partner's arm as she held the young child, North Wales Live.
Jones pleaded guilty to assault causing ABH and a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court sentenced him to eight months behind bars.
Prosecutor Kevin Jones said that the incident occurred on August 12, 2021, when the defendant was at the home he shares with his mother in Caernarfon.
Jones took the ball bearing gun out of its box to show his visitors but they "took exception" to this and tried to take it off him but two shots went off.
One "ricocheted" into the woman's arm while the other hit his nephew's forehead, said the prosecutor.
Police were called and found that the airgun, which was missing its magazine, had been put into the garden shed.
The court heard officers arrested Jones - who already had a conviction for possession of an imitation firearm from 2019.
A police expert analysed the latest gun and found it to be a "spring-loaded, realistic replica" of a Glock 9mm handgun.
Elen Owen, defending, said it had not been a deliberate assault with an airgun.
It was "dangerous" in the sense that it discharged plastic pellets.
But she accepted the combination of Jones' alcohol consumption and "fascination with guns" had got him into trouble before and had done so again.
