In video obtained from concertgoers, Drake says his team was saying there was some logistical issues they were facing in setting up the stage and the production as a whole.
“They told me they couldn’t build the show for y’all tonight. I’m not really that good at taking no for answer,” he said.
They were apparently telling him the show was probably going to have to be canceled, but he demanded to find a way to make it happen.
“I told them…I said when I left Toronto, I had a picture on my screensaver. It was a house in Los Angeles. I said the one place that took me in when I left my hometown was Los Angeles, California. So I said if y’all don’t get your a–es back to that arena and put this motherf–king show together, we’re gonna have a real problem. So before we start, I want you to make some noise for everybody in the building that put this show together for y’all.”
And while the show did kick-off later than scheduled, Drake and 21 Savage stayed powering through past midnight to do their complete set.
Find out which Drake album is considered his best.
