In March 2022, Dolly Parton turned down a placement on the voting ballot that would decide that year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees. In a subsequent statement, the legendary country musician said that she did not consider her career worthy of the honor.
Parton’s name was kept on the ballot anyway, and she was inducted that year in the Performer category. In a statement shared when she initially declined, Parton wrote, “This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock’n’roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!” As it turns out, Parton was totally serious.
Rockstar, her first rock album, is due out on November 19. It’s 30 tracks long and packed with a list of features that include some of the biggest and most well-respected names in rock music history, such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Elton John, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Frampton, and John Jett.
There are some contemporary artists too, including Lizzo on a cover of “Stairway to Heaven,” Christ Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, and Parton’s goddaughter Miley Cyrus. Read Next: Wisconsin teacher suspended for opposing school’s ban on Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton track
