Dolly Parton says she is so sad to have lost her “special friend” Dame Olivia Newton-John, following her death aged 73. The US country legend said she was “so happy that our lives crossed paths” as she joined those paying tribute to the actress and singer online. The British-born singer died “peacefully” at her ranch in southern California on Monday morning, surrounded by family and friends, her widower confirmed.

Naman Ramachandran Rocker Ozzy Osbourne made a surprise appearance in his home city of Birmingham, U.K., and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Monday evening. Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath, featuring Tony Iommi on guitar, Adam Wakeman on bass and Tommy Clufetos on drums, performed their evergreen hit “Paranoid” in front of a capacity crowd of 30,000 at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

Country music superstar Dolly Parton, who made a big donation to help fund coronavirus vaccine research in 2020, is among this year’s Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy recipients. Also being honoured are Dallas entrepreneur Lyda Hill, Kenyan industrialist Manu Chandaria, and Lynn and Stacy Schusterman, from the Oklahoma investment family. The award, presented by the international family of Carnegie institutions to honour innovative philanthropists, debuted in 2001 and is normally awarded every two years.
