“Did not see this coming – Wowza,” entertainment analyst Rich Greenfield of LightShed Partners tweeted Tuesday, moments after Disney announced that Bob Chapek would take over as CEO immediately, with longtime chairman and CEO Bob Iger moving to an executive chairman role until his contract expires in December 2021.

Disney executive chairman Bob Iger opened Disney’s annual meeting in Raleigh, N.C., on Wednesday with an acknowledgement of the challenges presented by the coronavirus crisis while also trying to assure investors that the company is strong enough to withstand a downturn in business.
When Bob Iger announced Feb. 25 that he was stepping down as Disney CEO and into the role of executive chairman, he said he would focus on “getting everything right creatively,” calling it the company’s “biggest priority.” One division where Iger will continued to spend much of that time, per sources close to the executive, is Disney+.
Greg Kinnear hopes the entertainment industry will be less sexist by the time his daughters reach adulthood.
