An unhappy diner has slammed "cold" food and a dish "like rubber" from an Edinburgh eatery - despite only having to pay for one glass of in. The customer said the "underwhelming" meal at Cafe Andaluz in late December was "not authentic or fresh".
The disgruntled punter made their feelings known to staff on the night and later in an online review. Despite receiving a large amount of money off their bill after complaining to waiting staff, the diner left a scathing one-star review on TripAdvisor, reports Edinburgh Live.
It reads: “Went for tapas on our last night in Edinburgh and were completely underwhelmed. Ordered five dishes, they were not authentic, not freshly prepared, calamari like rubber, all dishes served cold apart from meat and cheese. Felt like they had all been shop bought.
“We asked for the bill and the waiter could see had not eaten all the food and when we explained why, they took our complaint seriously and only charged us for our one glass of white wine. Would not recommend their tapas, and won’t be going there again.”
The customer service team at Cafe Andaluz said the following day: “Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your visit, but I am glad that this was recognised by the manager and we were able to amend the bill to reflect your experience.”
The city centre chain has received just 68 poor reviews, compared to more than 2,000 which rated the restaurant ‘excellent’. A review posted just days ago read: “It is an amazing restaurant. The food is fresh and served from the oven. We really enjoyed the food, especially the paella. The waiter made our day. He was friendly and explained all questions asked on the menu.”
Another reads: “Great food and great
