With every breath Diddy takes, he’s sending out some serious cash Sting‘s way!!
On Twitter Wednesday, rapper Sean Combs dropped a bombshell when he replied to a tweet where the 71-year-old rocker said in a recent interview he’ll owe him $2,000 per day “for the rest of his life” — all for sampling a song without permission! In case you don’t remember, I’ll Be Missing You, Diddy and Faith Evans‘ 1997 tribute to the late The Notorious B.I.G., features a sample from The Police classic Every Breath You Take.
Sting said in the clip he and the 53-year-old are actually “good friends now” so there’s no drama between the two — but he’s still taking the money! LOLz!

But the number he quoted isn’t quite right, according to Coming Home rapper! While quote tweeting the original clip, he wrote:
Whoa! Five thousand bucks per day!? To put it in perspective, that’s $150,000 a month or $1.8 MILLION per year. Wild! We can’t believe the song made so many in royalties!
Ch-ch-check out the tweet (below):
It’s good to hear Diddy and Sting are buddies now despite that big payment! The Bad Boy For Life rapper definitely learned his lesson about copyright and sampling the hard way. Reactions, Perezcious readers?

Drake Bell is claiming he found out his estranged wife, Janet Von Schmeling, filed for divorce like everyone else, online. The former child star and musician posted the confession to Twitter saying, “I found out my wife filed for divorce from TMZ.” He also added, “check out my new song” accompanied by a YouTube link to a music video for his song «Going Away.» I found out my wife filed for divorce from TMZ...check out my new song https://t.co/34cYh4JsMAIt seems the song was written before his estranged wife filed for divorce because Bell sings about moving his wife and son to an island. He goes on to say he’s “going away” and is “done with this f**king scene” and mentions the paparazzi. According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Von Schmeling filed to divorce the actor this week, just days after he was reported missing and endangered, but was subsequently located.Per the docs, Von Schmeling claims she and Bell separated back in September, and is citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The pair, who were married for four years, share 2-year-old son, Wyatt.

Diddy last week clarified in a tweet that he was now paying Sting “5k a day”.Both that remark, and the 2018 interview, implied that Diddy was actually sending Sting daily cheques, which obviously isn’t the case. It’s just that whenever ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ is played, the song royalties that are due are collected by Sting and his publisher Universal. But maybe Diddy has insider knowledge on how much that nets Sting and Universal? And maybe with the streaming boom the song royalties generated by ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ are now topping five grand a day.
Diddy had everyone running to their calculators for no reason, it turns out, after the rap mogul revealed there's no truth behind him dishing $5,000 per day for sampling one of Sting's songs without his permission. Diddy on Friday took to social media and let it be known that he was only being «facetious» when chimed in after Sting, in a newly resurfaced 2018 interview with, said rumors that Diddy was paying him $2,000 per day «for the rest of his life» for sampling his song without his permission were true.Diddy now says, not so much.«I want y’all to understand I was joking! It’s called being Facetious! Me and @OfficialSting have been friends for a long time! He never charged me $3K or $5K a day for Missing You. He probably makes more than $5K a day from one of the biggest songs in history.

Diddy has backtracked over comments he made in which he said he was forced to pay Sting £4,020 ($5,000) each day for the rest of his life.Earlier this week, the rapper responded to a re-surfaced interview with the musician in which The Police frontman said he received royalties for their hit 1983 single, ‘Every Breath You Take’, which Diddy sampled in one of his most famous tracks, ‘I’ll Be Missing You’.The hip-hop icon was said to have been forced to pay the ongoing fee after sampling the track without permission in 1997.Diddy then tweeted to confirm that he pays Sting “5k a day.”But today (April 7) the rapper took to Twitter to set the record straight and said his previous tweet was a joke.He wrote: “I want y’all to understand I was joking! It’s called being facetious! Me and @OfficialSting have been friends for a long time! costing Diddy big time. For sampling Sting’s 1983 “Every Breath You Take” track on 1997 Biggie Smalls tribute “I’ll Be Missing You,” music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is said to be forever indebted to the rock star — to the tune of $5,000 a day. “5k a day. Love to my brother [Sting],” tweeted Diddy, 53, in part, Wednesday, seemingly confirming his eternal obligation to the Police frontman. Neither representatives for Diddy nor Sting immediately responded to The Post’s request for a comment. But in his Twitter admission, Diddy, a native New Yorker, reposted a clip that featured Sting, 71, discussing the perpetual payment during a 2018 appearance on Power 105.1 FM’s “The Breakfast Club.”The tweet, which amassed more than 7.6 million views, came as a correction to Sting telling the morning show host Charlamagne Tha God that Diddy had to pay him $2,000 a day for co-opting his Grammy-winning hit.
A very costly mistake. Diddy revealed that he’s still paying Sting for sampling his song in the ‘90s without getting permission first.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Diddy says he’s paying Sting $5,000 per day for sampling the Police frontman’s 1983 blockbuster hit “Every Breath You Take” on his own 1997 song “I’ll Be Missing You.” Diddy tweeted Wednesday in response to a resurfaced video clips from a 2018 interview Sting did with the Breakfast Club. As noted by the Shade Room, the clips shows interviewer Charlamagne Tha God asking Sting to confirm whether Diddy pays him $2,000 daily for sampling the song on “I’ll Be Missing You.” Sting says yes, “for the rest of his life,” to laughter, and then confirms that Diddy asked for permission to sample the hit after his own song was released.
Even after the lawsuits, it’s all love between Diddy and Sting.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is clarifying how much money he pays Sting per day.
Passive income, the act of making money from investments, properties, or anything that doesn't involve a lot of work, is a big deal to the kind of finance bros who love to make TikToks about their grindset. Sting doesn't strike me as someone who has ever even heard the phrase "side hustle" and yet it seems he's sitting on a pretty sweet one. Essentially having Diddy pay him $5k a day for the rights to his 1983 single “Every Breath You Take.” That is how much Diddy claims he pays Sting for his role in "I’ll Be Missing You," the 1997 single written in honor of the late Notorious B.I.G.
