The film from directing duo Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer stars Paul Mescal, Aisling Franciosi and Emily Watson.Set in a quiet Irish fishing village, “God’s Creatures” follows the strained relationship between Brian O’Hara (Mescal) and his mother, Aileen (Watson). When Brian suddenly returns home to his family after living abroad in Australia for seven years, he is accused of a horrible crime.

A look at a place and its people and an ode to the craft of making tequila, “Dos Estaciones” is the debut feature film for Juan Pablo González, which made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival where its lead, Teresa Sánchez, won the Special Jury Award Acting prize. The film also won the Grand Jury Prize for Outstanding Screenwriting at Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival and the True Vision Award at the True/False Film Festival.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Melissa Leo and Antonio Banderas have joined the cast of “Clean-Up Crew,” an action-comedy from Yale Entertainment.Directed by Jon Keeyes, “Clean-Up Crew” focuses on a crime scene clean-up team that discovers a cash-filled briefcase at a crime sight. The discovery pits them into battle with a crime boss, hitman and corrupt government agents searching for the cash.

The Libertines‘ drummer Gary Powell has recalled performing to “racist” Sex Pistols fans whom he claimed threw Nazi Swastika salutes at him.Powell, who has also drummed for Dirty Pretty Things with Libs bandmate Carl Barat, as well as The Specials, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the New York Dolls, told NME in a new interview that he was shocked that the Sex Pistols camp allegedly did nothing to condemn the abuse at the gig 20 years ago.When NME quizzed Powell in the latest Does Rock ‘N’ Roll Kill Braincells?! feature on which The Beatles song “angry Sex Pistols fans” sang during a Libertines set in support of the legendary punk band in 2002, Powell answered: “Was it ‘Get Back’? I don’t remember!”The drummer’s answer was incorrect, with NME telling him that the fans were in fact singing ‘Yellow Submarine’ due to the bandmembers wearing matching red tunics.Powell then responded: “All I remember was some Nazi-esque Sex Pistols fans giving me Swastika salutes whilst we were playing, and I lost it and wanted to kick off with those guys. It wasn’t a joyous occasion.

Jimmy Fallon and Kevin Bacon are offering a new twist on a pop classic by reimagining Tears for Fears' «Head Over Heels» for a fictional  segment called «First Drafts of Rock.» In the spoof clip, Fallon and Bacon perform a so-called early version of the 1985 hit -- which was re-popularized in the 2001 film -- that really doubles down on the idea of . «Got a degree in meteorology to talk about the weather,» Fallon croons, with Bacon hopping on the chorus to harmonize. «For the weather you can call Tears for Fears, we'll check the radar if the skies will be clear.»Watch the full segment below and prepare to have the tune stuck in your head all day.Bacon stopped by to discuss his return to his horror roots in the LGBTQ+ horror film , coming to Peacock on Aug. 5.

Nicki Minaj’s father Robert Maraj in a February 2021 hit-and-run incident has been sentenced to one year in prison.Charles Polevich, 71, struck 64-year-old Maraj while he was walking in the village of Mineola on Long Island, New York.Polevich drove off without calling emergency services and also hid his car. Maraj was taken to a Nassau County hospital where he died.Nassau County police were able to track down Polevich’s vehicle using security footage.  Polevich was arrested and charged three days after the incident.“He’s absolutely aware of what happened,” Nassau Police Homicide Detective Lt.

Addie Morfoot ContributorFour documentary filmmakers were invited to participate in the Sundance Institute’s newly created Indigenous non-fiction intensive program that concludes July 29.The three-day program was created to identify Indigenous artists creating formally bold and personal work and to uplift them with a small grant and mentorship on a current edit of their short-form documentary films.The four filmmakers selected to partake in the new initiative are: Sarah Liese (“Coming In”), Sean Connelly (“A Justice Advancing Architecture Tour”), Olivia Camfield and Woodrow Hunt (“If You Look Under There You’ll Find It”). The advisors for the inaugural program include Emmy award-winning filmmaker Colleen Thurston (“Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People”), filmmaker-editor Maya Daisy Hawke (“Cave of Forgotten Dreams”), and filmmaker Darol Olu Kae (“I Ran From It and Was Still in It”).

What does one naturally associate with that most enduring and traditional of genres, the stalwart of American cinema that is the Western? For many, it is the violent exuberance of the European visionaries behind the so-called ‘Spaghetti’ Western, which survived to this day in the films of Quentin Tarantino. For the puritans of this world, the measured craft and sometimes questionable social propaganda of the likes of John Ford comes to mind.
