Variety.“We can confirm that last night, in Adelaide, Dev Patel and his friends witnessed a violent altercation that was already in progress outside of a convenience store,” the statement said. “Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight.

7News said the woman stabbed the man in the chest in the midst of the fight before being separated. "Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight," a rep for the "Lion" star told 7NEWS.com.au. "The group was thankfully successful in doing so, and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived."Dev, who's been living in Australia with his girlfriend, stayed at the convenience store to speak to police.The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, whereas the woman was arrested. Although Dev is getting credit for helping in the scary situation, his rep said there are "no heroes.""This specific incident highlights a larger systemic issue of marginalised members of society not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve," the rep said.
