A supermarket giant has been successful in its bid to lift delivery restrictions at its planned store in Castle Douglas.
Aldi was given the green light for a £6.4 million development on Oakwell Road earlier this year.
However, one of the conditions was deliveries could only take place between 7am and 11pm each day to limit the impact on residents.
In April, the firm lodged a bid to have the restriction removed, which has now been approved by the council.
In a supporting document, the firm stated: “Aldi have a unique business model and delivery process which is specifically designed to be as quiet as possible.
“This model means that the rear end of delivery lorries can reverse directly to link into the building itself, allowing the unloading process to occur solely inside the building.
“In this case, this area and the adjacent service yard, is located in the far north-east part of the site, a good distance away from neighbours at Oakwell Park on the site’s western boundary.
“It is also in front of the building, meaning the nearest receptors are further shielded by the building itself.”
The bid to remove the restriction attracted one objection from a local concerned about the noise.
However, council officials agreed to lift the condition.
