Day by day: Musical 'Godspell' celebrates 50th anniversary

NEW YORK -- Plans are afoot to put some old hit songs by Britney Spears into a stage musical about woke princesses, and the hope is that the result isn't “Toxic.”The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C.

NEW YORK -- Disney’s iconic “Winnie the Pooh” will travel from the forest to find a home off-Broadway this fall.“Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation” will bring together Pooh, Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Tigger, and the gang in a new production developed by Jonathon Rockefeller.The show will feature songs by the Grammy-winning Sherman Brothers with additional music from A.A. Milne, and will be told using life-size puppetry.

Dua Lipa has taken to social media to slam an advertisement in the New York Times this past Saturday (May 24) which describes her and Palestinian-American influencers Bella and Gigi Hadid as antisemites. The ad, paid for by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach's World Values Network, features the headline "Bella, Gigi and Dua, Hamas calls for a second Holocaust.

Dua Lipa is speaking out after being accused of anti-Semitism due to her support of Palestinians in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

DMX’s ex-wife Tashera Simmons has said the late rapper used his last words to help her understand that he wasn’t afraid to die. The artist, real name Earl Simmons, died on 9 April, having spent several days on life support at a New York hospital following a catastrophic cardiac arrest.

DMX’s ex-wife revealed that the rapper was not afraid of dying and used his last words to try to make her understand that.  The 50-year-old rap legend was admitted to the hospital in April after suffering a heart attack. He ultimately died one week later on April 9 at White Plains Hospital in New York.

NEW YORK -- It will come as little surprise to its legion of fans that the first professional musical to be mounted in the U.S. during the pandemic was “Godspell.”The Berkshire Theater Group in western Massachusetts put on a production in August with plexiglass partitions between the actors and temperature checks for the audience.

Chicago will return to Broadway just in time for its 25th anniversary: The musical is set to reopen at the Ambassador Theatre on Tuesday, September 14.

Although they haven’t issued any public congratulations, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reaction to William and Kate‘s anniversary was still a positive one. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to privately congratulate the royal couple instead, The New York Post’s Page Six reports.
