David Fincher on ‘Mank’: ‘ I Don’t Want Sympathy for Mankiewicz, I Want Empathy’

Mank reps the fourth feature between the filmmaker and the composers, the latter who immediately took home the Oscar and Golden Globe in the first noms for their score of 2010’s The Social Network.

Three years later and Oldman’s in the Golden Globes’ best actor in a drama race for his unveiled performance as Citizen Kane co-scribe Herman J. Mankiewicz in David Fincher’s Mank.

When you look at the IMDB filmography of David Fincher, you might be shocked to know that the filmmaker has 93 directing credits to his name. That is an absolutely astonishing number of projects for someone that you necessarily don’t think of as a highly prolific creator.
