David de Gea has turned down Manchester United's first offer of a new contract although both parties are confident of finding a resolution, according to reports.

Talks have been ongoing for some time over fresh terms, with both club and player confident they can come to an agreement. And now the Athletic reports that United's opening offer has been turned down by the shot-stopper. It adds that opening proposals are rarely accepted, with negotiations set to follow in which both parties can come closer together.
