EXCLUSIVE: David Ayer and Chris Long’s Cedar Park Studios has hired former Netflix Original Series executive Kate Regan as SVP Development for TV and Film. Regan spent the past three years at Netflix developing a slate of drama programming from greenlight to launch, including titles such as Pieces of Her and The Lincoln Lawyer.
“I’m honored to be joining David, Chris and the rest of the team at Cedar Park Studios,” Regan said, “David’s body of work is iconic and has been hugely influential for me professionally. I’m thrilled to reunite with Chris and Shane and eager to expand our development slate.”
Prior to her stint at Netflix, Regan served as Head of Current Programming at AT&T Audience Network (formerly DirecTV’s Audience Network), where she worked with Long and Cedar Park’s EVP Development and Production Shane Elrod. In that role, she was charged with overseeing scripted series and factual entertainment through all phases of development and production. Series developed and launched during her tenure include Mr. Mercedes, Condor and Loudermilk.
Regan got her start in the industry interning for producer Kristen Campo. She went on to work for producer Henrik Bastin during the initial development of Bosch ahead of its sale to Amazon, and for Veena Sud on AMC/Netflix’s The Killing.
“We’re so happy to welcome Kate to the team,” Long said. “She’s got killer instincts and incredible drive, qualities I recognized would fit our team ethos here at Cedar Park. I know her work will continue to elevate all of our TV and film projects.”
Cedar Park is currently producing The Beekeeper, with Ayer directing and Long serving as a producer. The company is also set to produce the feature adaptation of the Harlan Coben bestseller Six Years

Per the official logline, it “tells the story of one year within the walls of the palace of an authoritarian regime as it begins to unravel.” Exact character details are being kept under wraps. Schoenaerts can currently be seen in the David O. Russell film “Amsterdam” in the role of Detective Lem Getweiler. Up next, he will be seen in the Canal+/Sky series “Django” and the feature “The Way of the Wind” from Terrence Malick. He also recently wrapped filming on the Netflix film “The Old Guard 2.” His past credits include films like “Rust and Bone,” “The Danish Girl,” and “Far from the Madding Crowd.”

Reporting to department head Megan Crawford, she will help advise clients on all aspects of a film marketing and distribution strategy for theatrical and streaming releases. The marketing team works closely with CAA Media Finance, led by Roeg Sutherland and Benjamin Kramer, which funds and packages many indies and mid-budget commercial fare. Schroder will also advise the CAA roster on festival and awards campaign strategies, and curating the agency’s effective tastemaker screenings.

In the story, a 16-year-old boy who lives in his older sister’s garage ends up being the caretaker of her baby. “Jamboree” would be only the second time that Sedaris’ work has been adapted for film: 2013’s “C.O.G.,” from Kyle Patrick Alvarez, was based on an essay from the 1997 collection “Naked.” Badgley recently wrapped the fourth season of “You,” which will be released on Netflix in two parts next year: The first batch of episodes will premiere on Feb. 10, with the rest dropping a month later, on March 10.

The goal is to broaden the range of films that Illumination makes beyond the kid-friendly fare that’s been its stock in trade. Moon most recently served as the head of adult animation at Netflix, a post he stepped down from in July to “pursue other opportunities.” His exit came as the streamer, battered by a swooning stock price, was laying off animators and dialing back its ambitions in the space. In addition to his new role as president of Moonlight, the company said that Moon will serve as a senior creative advisor to Illumination. Moonlight’s films will be distributed under Illumination’s distribution partnership with Universal Pictures. Illumination said the goal is for Moonlight to “produce animated films that push beyond the family genre.”
