He’s here… to remind you… of the mess he made that inspired one of the best breakup anthems of all time.
Dave Coulier has historically been pretty quiet about his relationship with Alanis Morissette — and crucially his relationship with You Oughta Know, her massive hit song. The internet has long been fascinated with the rumor that Full House‘s lovable Uncle Joey was the subject of the breakup song, a f**kboi who played with a young woman’s heart and oh so quickly moved on.

It’s understandable he’d keep mum on the subject, only letting out a frustrated confirmation or half-denial every now and then. But on this week’s episode of SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts show, Dave finally recounted — for the first time we know of — what it was like hearing that epic track for the first time.
Hilariously, when it first struck him — like it did most of us — he didn’t even realize it was his ex! He recalled:
But the other shoe dropped for the comic pretty quickly:
Ha! Don’t blame you, guy! He went from oughta know to NEED TO KNOW!
For those who don’t remember that line in You Oughta Know — it’s not! That’s from deep cut Right Through You, in which she sings:
Yeah. If you didn’t think anything could go as hard as the single, think again! So not only is Dave confirming You Oughta Know was about him, but a LOT of Jagged Little Pill was! Damn!
Explaining how he knew that one was about him, Uncle Joey explained the inside joke:
So that’s when he realized just how bad he effed up! He remembered:
LOLz! That was our first thought hearing the record, too!

Dave Coulier is opening up about how he found out that he was the illusive subject of Alanis Morissette‘s “You Outta Know”.
Dave Coulier is coming clean about what it was like hearing Alanis Morissette’s scathing 1995 breakup anthem for the first time, a track that has long been rumored to be written about him. The "Full House" alum recently appeared on SiriusXM’s "Jim Norton & Sam Roberts" show and recalled his first memory of "You Oughta Know." The actor, 62, and the singer, 48, dated in the early ‘90s before she released the furious single. "Here’s the story.
Alanis Morissette. The "Full House" star dated the singer in the '90s while she was writing the legendary album. "I never saw this angry white girl thing that people have kind of coined her as," he said on SiriusXM's "Faction Talk." "She was sweet, she was funny, she was super intelligent, super talented."The album came out after the two split, and Dave recalled hearing "You Oughta Know" — a song rumored to be about him — for the first time while driving. At the time, he didn't realize his ex was singing, but he really liked the hook … Then things got very familiar."And then I start hearing the voice. I'm like, 'Wow, this girl can sing.' And I had no idea, you know, that this was the record," he said.
Dave Coulier was in the television shows Full House and Fuller House. He also knows what house he was in with singer Alanis Morissette – the doghouse.
Alanis Morissette's iconic single «You Oughta Know» has long been a source of fan speculation, with alum Dave Coulier being the most often suggested candidate. As it turns out, Coulier was among those who believed that particular fan theory. The actor recently sat down for an episode on the SiriusXM show and he reflected on hearing the song on the radio for the first time back when it first came out in 1995.«I'm driving in Detroit and I've got my radio on, and I hear the hook for ‘You Oughta Know’ come on the radio. And I'm like, wow, this is a really cool hook,» Coulier recalled.
David Coulier clearly remembers the first time he heard Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”.
