‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Releases Writers and Directors as Marvel Plans Overhaul of Series

Marvel Studios‘ Daredevil: Born Again has rounded out its revamped creative team with a new showrunner and directors. Dario Scardapane (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Punisher) has been tapped as showrunner and directing team Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Loki) are set to direct the Charlie Cox series, sources confirm to Deadline.

Variety has learned exclusively that Veena Sud will head up the series, which will be set in the world of the so-called Millennium novels originally written by Stieg Larsson. Variety has confirmed that Storer and FX won the rights to the upcoming book “All the Other Mothers Hate Me” by journalist Sarah Harman in a strong bidding war said to have included more than a dozen other parties. The book is described as a satirical thriller about “an American woman who suspects her beloved son might have murdered a wealthy pupil at his West London private school,” per the description from the publisher.

The streamer has released new first look photos of multiple Fire Nation characters, specifically: Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai (see below), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh (above), Ken Leung as Commander Zhao (see below), and Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula (see below). Netflix also presented a new image of Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko (see below).

Variety has confirmed that the Disney streaming service is working with writer Gary Dauberman and James Wan‘s Atomic Monster to develop a live-action version of the beloved animated show. Dauberman would serve as writer and executive producer with Wan also executive producing.

The new show would hail from Aaron Korsh, the creator of “Suits.” At this time, it would not be a spinoff, prequel, or sequel to the original show, but rather would feature entirely new characters in a new setting. Nothing is finalized as of yet, but given the recent success of “Suits” on streaming, it is believed to be a high priority for NBCUniversal.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Vincent D’Onofrio says the reports about Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” undergoing a creative overhaul are not actually a big deal, as such changes are common in the film and television industry. D’Onofrio is reprising his role of Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk in the Marvel series opposite Charlie Cox as Daredevil. “Unless you really know what’s going there’s a chance you could be wrong about this statement,” D’Onofrio wrote on X in response to a fan saying one of the actor’s original posts celebrating “Born Again” had “aged poorly” in light of the overhaul news.
