Dancing With The Stars' Derek Hough has told how his wife Hayley Erbert has been rushed to hospital for emergency brain surgery, asking fans to pray for her recovery. Derek, 38, was one of the longest-serving pro dancers on US version of Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing With The Stars, and since 2020 has been one of the show's judges. He met wife Hayley, 27, when she joined the pro cast and on Thursday shared the worrying news of her sudden health emergency.
Hayley was rushed to hospital for a craniectomy following the couple's Symphony of Dance tour in Washington D.C. and Derek shared the details with fans. Posting on Instagram, he wrote: "At the end of last night's tour performance in Washington D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital.
"She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in a stable condition. "I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her.
I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time." The procedure is a kind of brain surgery usually used in emergencies to relieve pressure on the brain by removing a piece of skull, which is replaced later in a separate operation called a cranioplasty. Derek's sister Julianne Hough, also a professional dancer, reposted Derek's statement on her Instagram Stories and wrote: "Please pray and send all your love, healing and light to Hayley and Derek.
