Shirley’s mum, who is 87, clearly doesn’t fancy changing her diet, but Shirley reveals that “I have to go gluten free, that’s what the doctor says, and I have to cut the sugar because that might be what’s giving me a rash.” Shirley goes on to tell her mum that “sugar’s not good for you,” but her mum laughs and cheekily replies: “sugar gives you energy."
