Dancing on Ice contestant Rachel Stevens has broken her silence on the wrist injury that has forced her out of the competition this weekend. Earlier today it was announced that the 43 year old, who sprang to fame in pop group S Club 7, would no longer be skating this Sunday as she’d fractured her wrist after a fall on the ice. Speaking to OK! and other press outlets, the star, who is partnered with professional skater Brendyn Hatfield, explained that she’d suffered the injury at the end of last year and now plans on making her debut on the ice in week three of the competition.
Rachel told us: “It was a couple of weeks before Christmas. I wasn’t actually with Brendyn at the time, I was with my coach.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. You can sign up at the top of the page.
“I fell quite a few times, obviously as you do when you try to push yourself. So I just fell and it hurt.” “I didn’t know what I’d done but after that, I had incredible support and went and got an X-ray done and had amazing medical advice from the team.” The mum of two continued to open up about how she felt to be missing her first performance and her fears about being one week behind everyone else in the ITV competition. Rachel admitted: “It’s definitely been scary. This happened at the beginning of December so once I knew what had happened, I was so grateful that I could be in the show and still be a part of it.” “But it’s definitely been a process and I’ve had my wobbles for sure.
