Marlon Wayans and the entire Wayans clan have always made films that push the limits of what is considered “decent” to get a laugh. Well before their time on “In Living Color,” Keenan Ivory Wayans was shocking people with the cult classic comedy, “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.” And of course, years later, Shawn and Marlon Wayans continued to push the boundaries with “White Chicks,” a film that many point to as an example of a hit feature that has not really held up over the years due to its misogynistic and racial humor.

Zack Sharf Brendan Fraser’s awards season with “The Whale” continued over the weekend at the Mill Valley Film Festival, where he was on hand for a screening of the film and to accept the annual event’s lifetime achievement award. Speaking to SFGATE on the red carpet (via Entertainment Weekly), Fraser issued a humorous apology to the city of San Francisco due to a traffic jam the “George of the Jungle” production caused over 25 years ago. Mill Valley is about 14 miles north of San Francisco. “When we were doing ‘George of the Jungle,’ George goes to rescue a parachutist tangled in the Golden Gate Bridge,” Fraser said, citing the Golden Gate Bridge instead of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge which was featured in the film. “That means Disney put a mannequin hanging by a parachute from the uprights. It brought traffic to a standstill on either side of the bridge.”

Pat Saperstein Deputy Editor Los Angeles City Council president Nury Martinez resigned her post as president Monday after recordings of her making racist remark at a meeting were revealed on Sunday. However, she did not resign her position on the city council, the L.A. Times reported. On Sunday, the news broke that an October 2021 meeting between Martinez, fellow councilmembers Kevin De Leon and Gil Cedillo, and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera was secretly recorded and posted to Reddit. During the meeting, Martinez could be heard making remarks about city council member Mike Bonin’s young adopted son, who is Black. The group also discussed redistricting of city council districts while disparaging other councilmembers.

The Blue Angels' scheduled show in San Francisco, California, for Fleet Week was canceled Sunday due to weather conditions, and a Democrat city council member suggested the planes not be permitted in the city's skies. District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston, a self-described Democratic socialist, said the planes should be banned from the city's airspace. "The Blue Angels should not be allowed to fly over San Francisco," he wrote on Twitter.

A Northern California fire department is investigating a video posted on social media showing a woman wearing a bikini exiting a fire truck outside a strip club. The San Jose Fire Department launched the investigation after a video posted on the San Jose Foos Instagram account on Thursday night showed a fire truck with lights flashing stop outside the Pink Poodle Strip Club before a bikini clad woman hopped out and walked toward the club, KTVU-TV reported.
