The Czech Republic has become the first European country to set a date for cinema reopenings, with tentative plans in place to open doors on May 25.
On April 14, the government announced a staged approach to the loosening of restrictions, with June 8 given as the initial date for theaters to open, with attendance limited to 50 people. However, the government has changed its schedule, with a representative for the Ministry of Culture

Germany's largest state has unveiled plans to reopen movie theaters as the local economy begins to transition from the lockdown due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The western German state of North Rhine Westphalia (NRW), which has a population of just under 18 million and is home to major cities such as Cologne and Dusseldorf, will allow cinemas to re-open on May 30 under strict hygienic guidelines.

Hong Kong will allow cinemas to reopen on Friday as the local government begins easing social distancing restrictions put in place to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor on Tuesday announced that cinemas, along with fitness centers, gaming arcades and mahjong parlors, will reopen — but with a series of precautions in place, including temperature checks on patrons and distanced seating arrangements.
