The Criterion Collection has begun streaming a number of acclaimed films by black filmmakers for free.“Dear Criterion community,” the service began in a statement posted to Twitter.

In solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, home video curator and distributor the Criterion Collection has taken down the paywalls for many of its films by and about black lives.

As protests and curfews continue across the country, amid unrest over police brutality and the death of George Floyd, one film is doing its part to help raise awareness about systemic racism, specifically within the United States criminal justice system. 

In the wake of George Floyd‘s May 25 death by asphyxiation from the result of disgraced officer Derek Chauvin’s knee pressing into the unarmed Black man’s neck, millions across the country stood in peaceful solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.

 Camila Cabello  and  Shawn Mendes  joined protesters on Sunday following the tragic death of Minneapolis man, George Floyd. The couple went out to show their support in Miami, where they have been self-isolating with Camila’s family, after the city opened up again following an overnight curfew.

On the evening of May 30, Chiara de Blasio, 25, was one of many arrested in Manhattan as protests against racial injustice and police brutality continue following George Floyd‘s brutal death on May 25. Chiara, the daughter of NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, was taken into custody for unlawful assembly after refusing to move from where she and other protestors were gathered; she was eventually released from law enforcement.
