Two men have been jailed after killing an elderly man whose home they mistakenly set on fire in a "revenge attack".
George Redmond, 76, died after Fraser Dolman and Wayne Hepburn torched his home while he and his wife slept. The "cowardly" pair had plotted to set fire to the front door of a rival but ended up targeting the "wrong property".
They instead set fire to the home of Mr Redmond and his wife Mary, the Liverpool ECHO reports. As the couple attempted to escape the flames, Mr Redmond fell and died in hospital just over two weeks later.

Henry Riding, prosecuting, described how the smoke alarms at the couple's home in Dorien Road, Old Swan, Liverpool, had been activated, and she went onto the landing to find "smoke engulfing the stairs". Mr Redmond was downstairs struggling to unlock the front door, and Mrs Redmond took the keys from him and opened it - burning her fingers in the process.
The elderly couple were helped out of their house by neighbours, who happened to have been arriving home in a taxi from Manchester Airport at the time. They also used water to extinguish the fire.
Mrs Redmond was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and was discharged shortly after. But Mr Redmond was left "writhing around in pain" after
