It has been confirmed that households across the UK will see their council tax skyrocket from April, further increasing the already steep cost of living.
Council tax could rise by as much as 5 per cent in some areas due to a 2 per cent council tax increase plus a 3 per cent increase for social care.
Theoretically, councils have the power to ask for more tax in their areas but a referendum with residents must be held first before this is implemented, the Mirror reports.
