Corrie fans were disappointed as the soap gave them a glimmer of hope after suspending filming amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The soap announced that it was going to bring viewers all the action from Weatherfield, but in a cartoon format after closing down the set at Trafford Wharf.
The much-loved soap tweeted: "Coronation Street: The Animated Series.
"Experience all the drama, comedy and romance you've come to expect from Corrie, but in a way you've never seen before!"

So I understand that one way of dealing with the current coronavirus pandemic is by making light of it, mainly through memes. But it's a completely different story when someone lies about having the virus as a joke. Sadly, this is what K-pop star and JYJ member, Jaejoong, did as a tasteless April Fools' Day prank.
Google is not participating in April Fools’ Day, despite their long-standing tradition of playing pranks on the holiday.
