Footage has emerged of police being surrounded by a baying mob as they tried to arrest a suspect in Piccadilly Gardens.
One cop is seen drawing his Taser stun gun as abuse is hurled at officers after they have pinned a man to the ground.
The officers were pelted with missiles and surrounded by a group of about 100 people during the incident on Saturday night, according to Greater Manchester Police.
