Robert De Niro Tells Stephen Colbert: Biden is 'doing the best he can,' 'a very good job'

Legendary actor Robert De Niro said he can finally get some shut-eye now that President Joe Biden, and not President Donald Trump, is running the country. During a guest appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday, the notorious Trump-bashing actor told the comedian that he believes Biden is "doing the best he can."  Considering Biden is suffering very low approval ratings and Americans across the country are reeling from inflation and high gas prices, De Niro seemed to really be giving Biden the benefit of the doubt.

Bobby Shmurda calls for nationwide adoption of New York’s Rap On Trial bill

New York’s state senate passed a bill on Tuesday that would restrict the use of song lyrics in court, a common practice disproportionately applied to prosecute rappers. Peter Bart: It’s Back To The Future For The Box Office If ‘Top Gun’ Sequel Hits Stratosphere

Box office is big news this week, not so much for its totals as for its totemic significance. Throngs will greet Top Gun: Maverick, but will kids join the grownups to see a nearly 60 year-old actor starring in a sequel to a 36 year-old hit? At the other end of the audience spectrum, will seniors conquer their torpor to catch the new Downton and even lure their kids – the movie is dubiously titled Downton Abbey: A New Era to motivate the youth quadrant.

What Judd Apatow Learned From George Carlin and Why His Comedy Remains So Relevant Today

Addie Morfoot ContributorGeorge Carlin’s enduring comedic legacy inspired Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio to make HBO’s upcoming documentary about the counterculture icon, whose observations remain eerily topical nearly 14 years after his death.Carlin, who appeared on “The Tonight Show” more than 130 times during his lengthy career, riffed about abortion, the planet, police brutality and organized religion in his stand-up sets and also appeared in movies such as “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” His legendary 1972 routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” is still regularly invoked in media circles.“We were always so surprised that anytime something happened in the news, George would start trending,” says Apatow, who co-directed “George Carlin’s American Dream” with Bonfiglio, a frequent collaborator. “Most comedians’ material ages really badly, but his work was so deep — and he also liked to talk about the big picture — that it just gets better with age.
