The CMJ brand is now part of Amazing Radio
The CMJ Music Marathon looks set to return later this year after the CMJ brand was bought by Amazing Radio.
CMJ, which began as the magazine College Media Journal in the 1970s before changing its name to College Music Journal, became renowned for its annual music conference and new music showcase which was staged in New York. The last edition of the multi-venue festival was held in 2015.

Late last year, it was announced that New York City’s CMJ Music Marathon would return for the first time in five years. The week-long multi-venue festival was initially launched in 1978, and ran through 2015. However following a change in ownership and a string of legal issues, the event’s future was uncertain. Now, the British platform Amazing Radio has announced the acquisition of the CMJ brand.
Amazing Radio, the British-based internet radio service that focuses on new and emerging artists in the U.K., has emerged as the mystery buyer behind long-troubled U.S. industry conference and festival brand CMJ.
The virtual live music event will also see performances from the likes of Baths, HANA and Anamanaguchi
